Karlie Kloss x Warby Parker

Last week I was contacted by Warby Parker to preview their new collaboration line with Karlie Kloss and I had a total fan girl moment. I absolutely love this brand and everything they do. Their frames are a modern twist on classic, feminite styles and for every pair they sell, they donate a pair through one of their non-profit partners.
Today they are launching a collaboration with Karlie Kloss and a portion of each sale of this collection will benefit Edible Schoolyard NYC. Edible Schoolyard NYC provides low income schools with gardens and kitchens to help encourage and teach students healthy habits that will last a lifetime.
"Collaborating with Warby Parker on this capsule collection was an amazing experience. I've always admired their commitment to social enterprise and am so excited that our partnership is supporting Edible Schoolyard NYC's inspiring work," Karlie says.
The collection features three styles, the Clara, the Marple, and the Julia, and are all available starting today in stores and online and all styles are $145.

Personally, I am absolutely loving the Clara, but all these styles are amazing. What's your favorite?

Weekend Spontenaity

This morning my spin instructor said "this is where we find out how your nutrition was over the weekend" and my first thought was "oh no."
It happens, we have all had a period of 24-48 hours where calories are not counted, but sometimes it is so worth it. Seriously though, having a bit of a diet cheat will not hurt you in the long run as long as you acknowledge that it is a mild/temporary cheat and not a dietary change! My weekend started with an awesome concert at Herndon's Friday Night Live with some of my family and ended with me hanging out on the patio playing 2048 (thanks to Dawson for getting me re-addicted to that one...)
The best way that I can describe this weekend is to say that I had an amazing time just living in the moment.
Traveling to Charlottesville on Saturday for the afternoon turned into me not getting home until 6:45pm on Sunday after a last minute decision to pounce on some tickets that Maryland released to UVA for the game yesterday. It was so much fun to get to hang out at a ball game with my friends (and teach Meghan baseball...she is teaching me soccer). Honestly, I wouldn't have done the weekend any differently and it made me really think about sweating the small stuff, something I am guilty of doing all the time. Instead, I took a couple of days of just going with the flow and I feel so rejuvenated going in to this work week!

If any of y'all are interested in tuning into the decisive game 3 in the UVA-UMD series, it is going to be on tonight at 7pm on ESPNU! Or you can watch the Orioles-Red Sox game that I'm gonna be at (have I mentioned that I love my internship).

Father's Day Gift Ideas

Father's Day is one week from tomorrow! Have you gotten your gifts yet? No worries if you haven't though, just check out the gift ideas that I have for you (and did I mention you get 15% off?). I scoured The Lucky Knot's website for some of my favorite gifts to give any dad and put them together for you. All you have to do is head over to their website, pick out what you want to get your dad, and enter code "Erin"at checkout for 15% off your purchase. Oh, and if you pick up an item or two for yourself, I won't judge, everything they have is just so darn cute!

Have a great weekend, y'all!

Friday Five: Proportions

One of my favorite parts of the Friday Five is coming up with a unifying element or title. Sometimes that doesn't happen, but this week it did. It's all about proportions and relative importance to society, health, and fashion, enjoy!
One: 33 3 Ingredient Recipes
How awesome are these? I really want to try a couple of them since they are so stinking easy! Also, I love nutella and brownies, so those obviously will be the first recipe I try ;)

This is an issue that goes beyond the tragedy a couple of weeks ago. I really liked some of these tweets and the Yes, All Men article. If you haven't seen either yet, I highly recommend them!

Three: Face the Facts
Okay, I am so guilty of eating because I am bored. Sometimes a good Pinterest quote can put that in perspective. Drinking more water has taken a concious effort on my part over the last couple of weeks and I am really noticing a difference in my cravings (I actually crave water...)

Four: Sizeable
I saw a link to this on Facebook and think it is such a good idea. I hate seeing items on rail-thin models and having the article look nothing like that when I actually try it on. This is a very honest look at how certain styles will look on all body types! Even if you aren't going to shop on it, it is nice to see how the styles look on girls with similar body types.

This man is a baseball legend. He is often called the Forrest Gump of baseball because he was around for everything. He was an integral part of my childhood memories as a Yankees fan, being the bench coach for the 4 consecutive Yankees World Series wins. We miss ya, Zimmy!

Have you seen anything this week that really stuck out to you?

Vintage Vogue

I came across a vintage Vogue cover on Pinterest this morning and ended up scrolling through quite a few of them and loving every single one. It is so cool to look at how fashion has changed and how the covers have evolved over the years. Looking at these also made me want to head down to Eastern Market in DC and go through the prints stand that they have on Sunday and pick up one or two to decorate my apartment!

40-40-20 (and Camo?)

Today I realized something about my getting in shape program that is so important. I really wish I had looked more closely at this before, but since I am just realizing it now, I want to share it with you. In order to see results of weight loss and muscle development, you need to eat a balanced diet and cut calories. That is probably something you already know though, right? Well, did you know that how you breakdown your diet is just as important as how many calories you eat?
I have been doing a really good job with my caloric intake and exercising and monitoring it all on My Fitness Pal, but what I haven't cared about is how that breaks down. I have been eating proportionally more carbs and fats than proteins and that is a big part of why I don't feel like I am getting results! That being said, going forward, I have a new goal for my daily caloric intake:
40-40-20
What does that mean? Your diet should consist of roughly 40% proteins, 40% carbs, and 20% fats. This nutrition breakdown is a great way to get in shape. You need more proteins for fuel to build and repair muscles, and of course it makes sense that you need less fat if you're trying to burn fat. Breaking down your diet this way will also help you if you tend to eat foods that are more wholesome and healthy if that is your weak spot.

Okay, now that we have that health tip out of the way, can we discuss the Fabletics Camo Comeback? It might be a bit ridiculous, but I just really want a pair of camo leggings to encourage me to kick butt in a 5:15am Spin class or Yoga (yeah, started that as my afternoon workout yesterday...)

Playing Hooky...I Wish

Oh, Lilly Pulitzer planner, why do you have to tempt me to skip Mondays more than I already want to? unfortunately, as tempting as it is to play hooky today, it's back to reality for me and that means that I am back on my spin class-work-blog-sleep grind (not that it's the worst thing in the world). That being said, my planner got me thinking about what I would do if I got to play hooky today, so, if I were to have the day all to myself, it might look a bit like this:

7:30am- Wake Up and get ready
8:30am- Head to the Metro to go Downtown
10:00am- Sit in a coffee shop with my iPad and catch up on blog reading and theSkimm
11:00am- Go to the National Gallery of Art (and have gelato in the cafĂ©)
1:00pm- Walk Around the Botanic Garden Conservatory
2:00pm- Head Home
4:00pm- Take Luther for a Walk at Burke Lake (4.7mi)
6:00pm- Quick Trip to Target
7:30pm- Make Dinner (Pinterest Recipe!)
8:30pm- Write a Blog Post
9:30pm- Get Ready for the Next Day and Watch Some Netflix
10:30pm- Bed Time!

What would you do if you had the day off today? Gosh, writing this list makes me want to play hooky, or at least head downtown to be a local tourist soon!
